PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shaka Zulu (ranked 5011 p4p, 160 weight class) and Jorge Margy (ranked 5085 p4p, 164 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shaka Zulu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorge Margy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Nard Betker.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Margy tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Zulu manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Zulu seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Zulu keeps the fight on the outside.
Zulu fails with a takedown attempt.
Zulu could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Margy is looking to clinch but Zulu is avoiding it.
Zulu shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Margy defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Margy dives in and grabs Zulu's left leg, looking for a takedown. Zulu pushes down on Margy's head and hops out.
Zulu has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Margy.

Zulu fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaka Zulu. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Margy tries for a takedown but Zulu sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Zulu fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Margy sprawls well initially but Zulu persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Zulu seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Margy does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Margy is trying to get back to full guard.
Zulu throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Zulu has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Margy blocking the ground and pound attempt from Zulu.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Zulu in particular looking to stall.
Margy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zulu. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Margy is looking to improve his position.

Zulu lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Margy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Zulu is working away from the top position though.
Zulu winds up and cracks Margy with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaka Zulu dominated that round.

Zulu feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zulu is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Margy keeping moving, preventing Zulu from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zulu stopping the sweep attempt from Margy.
Zulu sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Margy's guard.
Zulu wants to pass to mount but Margy is defending the position.

Zulu takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Zulu drops an elbow to the side of Margy's head.

Zulu is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Margy is in trouble now - Zulu has advanced to mount!
Zulu landing punches.
Shaka Zulu overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Margy taking shots to the head.
Margy tries to hold on but Zulu postures up.
Margy is breathing heavily.
Zulu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Zulu cracks Margy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Zulu lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Margy hang on?

It looks like Jorge Margy has been cut.

Margy is in a horrible position here. Zulu smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Margy is rocked!
Zulu softens up his opponent with a couple of shots there and then CRACK! One massive shot lands there and Margy is out cold! Zulu jumps to his feet and celebrates on the cage with the fans, who are, quite frankly, going absolutely mental!
