PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Reilly (ranked 2686 p4p, 322 weight class) and Bradford Forbes (ranked 2468 p4p, 300 weight class). Reilly comes to the ring accompanied by The Whispers - Rock Steady. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Reilly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 2, fighting out of Helsinki, Bradford Forbes!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reilly blocks a jab.
Reilly slips a jab from Forbes.
Forbes blocks a head kick by Reilly.
Nice straight punches there by Reilly. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Reilly.
Forbes misses with a hook.
Reilly swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Forbes misses the body punch
and Reilly counters with a one-two to the body.
Forbes throws a combination. Reilly tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Forbes throws a hook but Reilly avoids it easily.
Reilly is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Forbes.
A jab from Reilly does it's job there.
Reilly looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Reilly with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Forbes to score with a decent uppercut.

Forbes throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Reilly is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Forbes.
Mike Reilly is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reilly staying out of range there.
Forbes shoots in but Reilly avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Reilly gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Forbes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Reilly haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Reilly is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Forbes.
Reilly looks to land a left hand but Forbes moved out of range nicely.
Forbes throws a hook but Reilly blocks it.
Reilly tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Forbes manages to circle out of the way.
Forbes connects with a looping right hand.
Reilly slips under a jab from Forbes.
Reilly misses with a jab, cross combination.
Forbes with the counter takedown but Reilly avoids it easily.

and Reilly counters with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reilly has closed the distance and engaged Forbes in a clinch.
Reilly working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Forbes tries to pull guard but Reilly won't allow it.
Forbes stalling in the clinch but Reilly improves position.

Reilly tries to work over Forbes's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Reilly blocking some punches.
Forbes avoids a wild elbow strike from Reilly.

Forbes misses with a body punch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Forbes.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Reilly.
Reilly lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Reilly scores with a nice hook to the head.
Reilly fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Forbes gets control of Reilly's arms and successfully pulls guard. Forbes will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Reilly knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Forbes on the ground.

Reilly is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Reilly avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Forbes throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Reilly escapes and throws Forbes's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Reilly controls the position from side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Reilly continues to stall.
Forbes is trying to control Reilly's posture but Reilly avoids it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Reilly dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Forbes thows a left - swing and a miss!
Reilly tries to counter by clinching up but Forbes breaks away and moves out of range.
Reilly uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Forbes.
As Forbes tries to get set, Reilly tries to push him back and clinch up but Forbes manages to avoid the attempt.
Forbes looks to score with a jab to the body but Reilly is just out of range.
Forbes takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Forbes lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Reilly at a distance.
Forbes might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Forbes misses with a lunging right hand

and Reilly counters by moving into the clinch.
Reilly fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Forbes is trying to pull guard but Reilly has him pressed against the ropes.
Reilly prevents a body shot from Forbes.
Reilly is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Forbes blocks an uppercut.
Reilly misses with a punch on the inside.
Reilly lands a right hand that snaps the head of Forbes backwards.
Reilly working aggressively here.
Reilly presses Forbes against the ropes and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Forbes misses with some punches.
Forbes is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Forbes jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Reilly walks away with a smile on his face. Forbes gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Forbes throws an off balance right hand

and Reilly counters by clinching up.
Forbes blocks an uppercut.
Mike Reilly has scored more points in the clinch so far.

Forbes drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Forbes working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Reilly has passed into half guard!
Reilly is trying to control. Forbes wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Reilly stalling away here and it's allowed Forbes to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Reilly trying to control the position from guard on top but Forbes is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Forbes looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Reilly passes into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Reilly wants to lay and pray for a moment but Forbes keeps working.
Forbes tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Reilly wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Reilly trying to control the position but Forbes is working away.
Bradford Forbes has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Forbes is looking for a sweep.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Reilly showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Reilly has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
