Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Daiyan Jr Jesus Valdes (ranked 2997 p4p, 140 weight class) and Patrick Quinson (ranked 4446 p4p, 0 weight class). Jesus Valdes comes to the cage accompanied by a lo cubano. Patrick Quinson is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Patrick Quinson! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Micheangelo Fripello and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Quinson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Jesus Valdes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Jesus Valdes takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jesus Valdes appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Quinson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Jesus Valdes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Jesus Valdes shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Quinson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jesus Valdes tries to avoid it but Quinson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jesus Valdes to the ground. Jesus Valdes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Jesus Valdes half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Jesus Valdes. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quinson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Quinson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Jesus Valdes defends well and Quinson ends up having to push Jesus Valdes into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Quinson tries for a takedown but Jesus Valdes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Daiyan Jr Jesus Valdes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Patrick Quinson. Jesus Valdes throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Patrick Quinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jesus Valdes avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Quinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jesus Valdes's waist but Jesus Valdes gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Quinson off to one side. Jesus Valdes feinted with a counter takedown. Jesus Valdes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Quinson swings for the body but Jesus Valdes moves out of range.

Quinson showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Quinson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jesus Valdes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jesus Valdes wants to sweep but no luck. Jesus Valdes is working hard here to advance position. Jesus Valdes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Quinson manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Quinson preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Jesus Valdes is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Quinson! Quinson is wriggling around trying to escape.

Jesus Valdes is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Quinson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Quinson shrugs it off. Quinson tries to hold on but Jesus Valdes postures up. Jesus Valdes jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Quinson manages to avoid the submission attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Quinson is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Jesus Valdes off and has taken his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Patrick Quinson will probably get the nod. That's time! Jesus Valdes's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Quinson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jesus Valdes sprawls well initially but Quinson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Quinson sitting and controlling from the half guard. Quinson's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Quinson is looking for a kimura but Jesus Valdes is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Quinson to get the leverage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Quinson content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Jesus Valdes is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Quinson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Quinson's back! Jesus Valdes working for a choke but Quinson is defending well. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jesus Valdes has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Quinson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Jesus Valdes gets his way!
I really don't envy Quinson right now.

He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Jesus Valdes's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Quinson. Quinson is working Jesus Valdes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Quinson scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Jesus Valdes can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Quinson controls the pace. Quinson stands up over Jesus Valdes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Quinson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. More stalling from Quinson. Jesus Valdes keeping full guard, as Quinson tries to pass. Quinson's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Quinson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patrick Quinson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jesus Valdes enables Quinson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jesus Valdes manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Quinson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jesus Valdes swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jesus Valdes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Quinson tries to roll over but Jesus Valdes keeps him under control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Quinson can do anything to dispel that myth. Jesus Valdes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Quinson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jesus Valdes passes to full mount! Quinson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Quinson throwing hammer fists to the chest of Jesus Valdes. What's that going to do exactly? Quinson working to try and regain half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Quinson wants to stand up but Jesus Valdes is controlling him. And that's the end of the fight! Patrick Quinson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Quinson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
