Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jake Plunkett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brad Foster! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Foster avoids a kick to the body.
Foster tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Foster wants to clinch. Plunkett tries to score a power double leg takedown but Foster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Plunkett somewhat. Plunkett takes the fight into the clinch. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Plunkett slows down the pace here.
Plunkett pulls guard effortlessly.
That's one minute gone in the round. Plunkett is pulling down on Foster's head. It's preventing any offense from Foster, at least for the moment. Plunkett wants to sweep here but Foster controlling him for the moment. Plunkett is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Foster wants to control from the top but Plunkett keeps moving. Foster keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Plunkett's head. Foster wants to stand and escape but instead Plunkett has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Plunkett looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Foster looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Plunkett stays in close to Foster's body and controls the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Foster trying to keep a closed guard but Plunkett is proving a slippery customer.
Foster is wriggling around but Plunkett manages to pass to half guard.
Plunkett works his way into side control. Foster tries to bench press Plunkett off him but Plunkett keeps the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Plunkett looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Foster parries the strikes from Plunkett easily there. Plunkett is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Foster to escape.
Foster is trying to improve his position. Plunkett takes a little break here. Foster wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Foster wants to control but Plunkett postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Plunkett dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Foster takes a swing at Plunkett's ribcage but misses. Foster is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Plunkett closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Foster to the mat! Foster manages to get full guard. Plunkett sitting in guard, not really doing much. Plunkett is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Foster can do to turn this around? Plunkett won't allow Foster to get back to his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Plunkett is pushing down on Foster's leg trying to pass to half guard. Foster is fighting to maintain full guard but Plunkett has managed to sneak the leg through. Plunkett is looking for a kimura here.

That's one minute gone in the round. Plunkett decides to return to a standing position. Plunkett looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Foster fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Plunkett sprawls well initially but Foster persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Plunkett kicks Foster off and gets back to his feet. Plunkett moves into the clinch successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Foster tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
We've been informed that Foster has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Foster is breathing heavily. Foster tries to pull guard but Plunkett won't allow it.
Plunkett lands with a short shot to the head. Foster is trying to pull guard but Plunkett turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Jake Plunkett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brad Foster. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Plunkett stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Plunkett turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Plunkett manages to end up in side control. Plunkett misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Plunkett decides to stand back up. Plunkett steps back and let's Foster get back to his feet. Plunkett drops Foster with a beautiful combination! Foster stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Plunkett is looking for the KO!
It looks like Brad Foster has been cut. Plunkett shoots in for a takedown but Foster shows good takedown defense. Foster tries to counter by closing the distance. Plunkett closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Foster to the mat! Foster manages to get full guard. Plunkett not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Foster can't keep his opponent in guard - Plunkett advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Plunkett not doing much here.
Plunkett missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jake Plunkett dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Brad Foster's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Plunkett throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Foster tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Plunkett is in Foster's guard. Plunkett throwing strikes but missing. Plunkett stands up and waves to Foster to follow him. Plunkett throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Plunkett will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Foster steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Plunkett. Plunkett goes for a double leg but Foster avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Foster continues to drive forward. Plunkett goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Jake Plunkett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Foster gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Plunkett cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Plunkett uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Foster has time to react. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Plunkett scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Foster takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Foster throws a lazy head kick and Plunkett holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Foster misses with an elbow over the top. Plunkett breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Foster tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Plunkett manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Plunkett has Foster up against the cage in a clinch.
Plunkett stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Foster is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Plunkett to keep the fight standing. Plunkett scores with an uppercut up the middle. Plunkett pulls Foster into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Plunkett wants to sweep here but Foster controlling him for the moment. Plunkett has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Plunkett will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Plunkett pushes Foster off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Plunkett drives through and clinches with Foster against the cage.
Plunkett has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Foster is trying to keep an underhook but Plunkett manages to get the takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Plunkett perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Plunkett not landing any meaningful shots this time. Jake Plunkett overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Plunkett controlling the pace. Plunkett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Foster sees it coming and defends easily. Plunkett trying to control the pace. Plunkett seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Foster for as long as he can get away with.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Plunkett moves nicely into side control. Plunkett content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Plunkett scores with a couple of short elbows. Foster takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
And that's the end of the fight! Jake Plunkett showed his dominance in that final round. Well Plunkett has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
