Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gap Turner (ranked 15928 p4p, 576 weight class) and John Brown (ranked 1560 p4p, 182 weight class). Brown has chosen Somebody Gonna Get It as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gap Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 36 - 3, fighting out of Hilo, John Brown!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner cracks Brown with a good jab.
Turner chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Turner misses with a hook. Brown ducked under it nicely.

Gap Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brown moves away.
Turner throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Turner. Brown does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Brown counters by clinching up.
Brown takes a knee to the side of the body.

Turner breaks from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brown fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Turner to the ground. Brown is now in Turner's guard.

Turner utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Brown has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Brown working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Brown throws a front kick aimed at Turner's knee but Turner avoids it well.
Turner misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Turner scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

A slow jab from Turner misses its intended target.

Turner uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Brown has time to react.

Brown shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Brown was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Brown is nestled in close to Turner, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That was a close second round but I would say that Gap Turner will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Turner swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Brown misses with a head kick.
Turner throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Brown feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gap Turner.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Turner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
