Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Leonard Burgess!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor Connors!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Connors shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Burgess is trying to defend but Connors finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Burgess tries to kick Connors off in order to stand up. Connors Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Burgess is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Connors asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Connors lands a decent elbow from side control.
Burgess is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Burgess takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burgess regains half guard.
Connors slows the pace down in half guard.
Burgess throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Burgess could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Burgess pushes Connors off looking to stand but Connors dives back in and keeps control.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Connors lands a nice short elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Connors wants to pass the guard but Burgess is defending well.
Connors is keen to just control but Burgess is a slippery customer.

Burgess has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Connors is on him like a limpet, forcing Burgess back against the cage.

Connors has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Burgess is trying to keep an underhook but Connors manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Connors is looking to advance position but Burgess won't allow it.
Burgess pushes Connors off looking to stand but Connors dives back in and keeps control.
Connors not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Burgess is looking to improve his position.

Connors decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Burgess dives in and grabs Connors's left leg, looking for a takedown. Connors pushes down on Burgess's head and hops out.

Burgess is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Connors dives into side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Connors's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Connors working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Burgess is not content to let Connors control the position.
Connors tries to move into full mount but can't pass Burgess's legs.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Connors wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burgess keeps working.
Connors lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Burgess is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Burgess throws Connors to one side and escapes!

Connors gets a takedown into half guard.
Connors is thwarting Burgess's attempts to control the position.

Connors stands up out of the half guard.

Connors throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Burgess tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Connors is in Burgess's guard.
Connors is standing up over Burgess. Burgess looks to escape but Connors dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Connor Connors dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Connors has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Connors shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Burgess napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Connors tries for a kimura but Burgess is defending well.
Burgess tries to bench press Connors off him but Connors keeps the position.
Burgess is trying to get back to his feet.

Connors wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Burgess, who protects the arm well.
Connors is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Burgess will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Burgess is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Connors is controlling him well.

Burgess sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Connors is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Connors escapes and gets back to his feet.

Connors scores with a takedown into Burgess's guard.
Connors must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Burgess pushes Connors off and gets back to his feet.

Connors gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Burgess jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Connors walks away with a smile on his face. Burgess gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Connors feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Connors is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Connors decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Connors drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Burgess is looking to get back to his feet here but Connors is keeping cool and he's managed to take Burgess's back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Connors is cranking Burgess's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Burgess! He's tightened the choke and Burgess is tapping out!
