PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Takeru Ozaki (ranked 1310 p4p, 162 weight class) and James Steel (ranked 1081 p4p, 129 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Takeru Ozaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 19 - 1, fighting out of New York, James Steel!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Steel has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Ozaki throws a right hand that Steel ducks under and follows up with a left that Steel also avoids with ease.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Steel is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ozaki's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ozaki's back!

That was a close round but I would say that Takeru Ozaki will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
