Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cristiano Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Les Claypool (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vasquez comes to the cage accompanied by Cigaro. Claypool has chosen Nature Boy - Primus as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cristiano Vasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Les Claypool!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Claypool scores a takedown into full mount!

Claypool has control of Vasquez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vasquez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Vasquez working to try and regain half guard.
Claypool with shots to the head and body - Vasquez looks very uncomfortable down there.
Vasquez is wriggling around trying to escape.

Vasquez tries to reverse the position but Claypool maintains control.
Claypool has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Vasquez tries to lock up and control but Claypool gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Claypool tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Claypool is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vasquez can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Vasquez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Claypool throws some wild stikes that Vasquez manages to avoid easily.
Claypool can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vasquez is looking to escape.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Claypool fails to advance to Vasquez's back.
Claypool sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Claypool content just to control the position here.
Vasquez is controlling an arm, preventing Claypool from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Vasquez wants to get back to his feet.
Vasquez trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Vasquez tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Claypool wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Claypool wants to lay and pray for a moment but Vasquez keeps working.
Vasquez can't do much from the bottom here.
Vasquez tries to buck Claypool off but Claypool is having none of it.
Vasquez struggling a bit here.

Claypool wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Vasquez, who protects the arm well.
Claypool misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Claypool showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vasquez.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Les Claypool dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Claypool tries to move into range but Vasquez moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Vasquez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Vasquez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Claypool dodges the punch combination from Vasquez.
Claypool avoids a punch combination nicely.

Claypool drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Claypool controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Claypool working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Claypool misses with the ground and pound.
Vasquez tries to improve position but can't.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Claypool is looking to take a break and control but Vasquez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Claypool has hold of Vasquez's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Vasquez tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Claypool cranks the arm and Vasquez screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Vasquez, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
