Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Thom Tharrier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sigi Pesalelei! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tharrier lands a really nice looking cross but Pesalelei seems unphased.
It looks like Sigi Pesalelei has been cut. Tharrier looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Pesalelei should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Tharrier scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Pesalelei connects with a jab. Pesalelei blocks a leg kick. Pesalelei uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Tharrier. Pesalelei wants to land a leg kick but Tharrier is out of range. Tharrier thows a left - swing and a miss! Pesalelei throws the left hand but Tharrier avoids the punch easily. Good work by Pesalelei as he checks the leg kick. Pesalelei blocks a leg kick. Pesalelei chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Tharrier can pounce on him.
Pesalelei throws an overhand right that lands on Tharrier's shoulder, as Tharrier tries to avoid the shot. Tharrier lands a leg kick that knocks Pesalelei off balance momentarily. No joy there for Pesalelei, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Tharrier fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Pesalelei is out of range. Tharrier throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Tharrier throws a leg kick but Pesalelei moved away. Tharrier throws a poor cross that misses
and Pesalelei counters with a nice uppercut. Tharrier fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Pesalelei blocks a low kick nicely. Tharrier lands a nice looking body shot.
Pesalelei tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Tharrier manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. It looked like Tharrier wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. The fighters circling - Pesalelei throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
That's one minute gone in the round. Pesalelei misses with a hook. Tharrier ducked under it nicely. Pesalelei throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Pesalelei walks into a big right hand from Tharrier and goes down! The referee sends Tharrier to a neutral corner as Pesalelei gets back to his feet. He looks OK so we're back under way.
Pesalelei is rocked! Pesalelei leaves his chin hanging out and Tharrier seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Pesalelei crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Thom Tharrier! In defeat, Sigi Pesalelei stepped up to the mic, saying 'im sorry to all my fans i let down.'.
