Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oscar Meyer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 10 - 2, fighting out of Hilo, Johnny Walker! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker misses with a hook. Meyer ducked under it nicely. Meyer cracks Walker with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Walker looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Meyer finish him?
Walker is rocked! Nice defenses there by Meyer. Walker is still on wobbly legs! Can Meyer finish him? Walker throws a jab but it's blocked by Meyer. Walker seems to have recovered his senses. Walker throws a one two combo.
This has been an exciting period of action! Meyer shoots and misses and Walker counters with a stiff right hand. Walker throws a head kick but Meyer moves out of range.
A left lands for Walker. Meyer dives in for a single leg takedown but Walker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Walker looks like he wants to counter punch here. Meyer walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Meyer definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Walker closes the distance and clinches. Meyer stalling in the clinch.
Meyer escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Walker's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Walker duly obliges. Meyer tries to clinch up. Meyer shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Walker defends it nicely. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Oscar Meyer. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Walker throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Walker keeps the fight on the outside. Johnny Walker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Walker misses with a head kick.
Meyer connects with a body shot. Walker scoring well with a low kick there.
Walker misses with a body kick. Walker tries a head kick but it misses.
Meyer scores with a jab. Walker acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Walker slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walker moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Meyer slips under a jab from Walker. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Meyer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Meyer walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Whack! Meyer lands a heavy head kick that drops Walker. The ref tackles Meyer to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Walker was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Oscar Meyer!
