Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fabian Herrera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Betrdanu Son! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Herrera throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Son. Son scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Son lands a nice forearm strike. Herrera takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Son landing a few strikes. Herrera is trying to get back to his feet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Son working the ground and pound. Son lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Son taking a breather here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Herrera is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Son working the ground and pound. Son wants to control but Herrera is keeping him busy. Son working the ground and pound from side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Herrera is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Son has just dragged him back down to the mat. Son is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Herrera will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Herrera is pushing Son's head away, looking to escape. Son manages to hold on to the position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Son lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Herrera down.

He's almost out here... but no, Son gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Son wants to lay and pray for a moment but Herrera keeps working. Son landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Son trying to control the position but Herrera is working away. Son advances nicely into full mount. Herrera takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Son lands a heavy elbow.
Herrera is rocked! Son is in the full mount, landing strikes. Oh Herrera is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Son with a couple of short strikes. Herrera is in a horrible position here. Son smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Son connects with a bit shot that sees Herrera covering up! More strikes from Son and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Son is our winner by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Betrdanu Son! Betrdanu Son gave a mention to Shade Tree Nutrition in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
