The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tsuruta closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Gaston's guard.

Gaston has his foot on Tsuruta's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Tsuruta works his way back into a safe position though.
Tsuruta chips away with some ground and pound.

Tsuruta got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gaston has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tsuruta has managed to get both his arms back between Gaston's legs - danger averted.

Tsuruta has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Gaston might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Tsuruta haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Gaston had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tsuruta defends it easily.
Gaston is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gaston has momentary wrist control but Tsuruta slips an elbow through the middle.

Tsuruta is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gaston has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Tsuruta is looking to defend but Gaston has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Tsuruta! Gaston pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Tsuruta taps out and this one is all over!
