Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 13 - 2, fighting out of New York, Eric Staal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dan McClain! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McClain with a nice cross. McClain misses with a body shot.
McClain throws a right hand that Staal ducks under and follows up with a left that Staal also avoids with ease. Staal attempts a counter takedown but McClain avoids it well and moves away. McClain throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. McClain avoids the body shot from Staal.
McClain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Staal walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. McClain misses with a wild body shot. McClain lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Staal shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling McClain to counter with a crisp jab. McClain takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. This has been an exciting period of action! McClain fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Staal looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. McClain throws a hook but Staal avoids it easily. McClain misses the shot to the body. Staal is looking to counter punch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staal takes a swing at McClain's ribcage but misses. McClain steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Staal. McClain wants to counter the offense by Staal and move into the clinch position. McClain works Staal's body with a nice hook. Staal lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Staal misses with a left hand and McClain counters with a huge left! Staal is in big trouble! He's backing up but McClain isn't giving him chance to recover. Under a barage of punches the ref has to step in to save Staal from any more damage. A dominating finish by McClain!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dan McClain! During a confident post fight interview, Dan McClain thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
