PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Xilef Xenox (ranked 24885 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Specht (ranked 24866 p4p, 0 weight class). Specht is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: blablabla. Ken Specht looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Xilef Xenox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Specht!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Specht connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Xenox stuffs the takedown attempt from Specht. Specht gets slowly back to his feet.
Specht wants to clinch.
Xenox fires out a quick counter leg kick but Specht just manages to avoid it.
Specht fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Xenox looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Xenox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Specht tries to avoid it but Xenox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Specht to the ground. Specht escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Xenox postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Specht is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Xenox, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Xenox is breathing heavily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Specht would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Xenox wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Xilef Xenox will probably get the nod.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Xenox closes the distance and clinches up with Specht, looking for a takedown. Xenox pushes Specht against the cage but Specht circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Xenox shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Xenox looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Specht with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Xenox is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Specht tries to kick Xenox off but Xenox keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Xenox prevents Specht from standing back up.
Xenox wants to free his trapped foot but Specht is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Specht pushes Xenox off looking to stand but Xenox dives back in and keeps control.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

As Specht tries to get set, Xenox tries to push him back and clinch up but Specht manages to avoid the attempt.

and Xenox counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Ken Specht comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I have no idea who won that fight. Let's wait and see whether the judges are as confused as me! Time for a split decision perhaps?!. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
