Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stanley Strickland (ranked 22760 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matty Lewis (ranked 24359 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Stanley Strickland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Matty Lewis!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strickland tries to close the distance and clinch up but Lewis swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Matty Lewis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Strickland tries to clinch up.
Strickland moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Lewis fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Strickland, pushing him back against the cage.

Lewis ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lewis no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Lewis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Strickland can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Lewis wants to sweep here but Strickland controlling him for the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Strickland lands a couple of elbows.
Lewis wants to improve his position but instead Strickland has moved into half guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lewis can do anything to dispel that myth.

Strickland is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Lewis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lewis shrugs it off.

Strickland sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Lewis is wriggling around trying to escape.
Strickland avoids the attempt from Lewis to control.
Strickland misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Strickland lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Lewis tries to hold on but Strickland postures up.
Lewis is trying desperately to improve position.

Lewis is still trying to improve position.
Lewis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Strickland. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lewis has given up his back here.

Strickland has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
BOOM! Strickland connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lewis is looking to improve his position but Strickland isn't that keen on the idea.

Strickland will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Strickland gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lewis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Lewis tries to free his leg and advance position but Strickland is retaining full guard.
Strickland is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Strickland is working for a kimura but Lewis is defending it quite comfortably.
Lewis is looking for a sweep. Strickland is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Strickland thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lewis's head.

You can see the frustration on Lewis's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Lewis breaks Strickland's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Strickland has his foot on Lewis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lewis works his way back into a safe position though.

Strickland really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lewis postures up in Strickland's guard and throws a big left but Strickland blocks it.
Strickland doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Lewis lands a body punch in the clinch.

Lewis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Lewis keeps the fight on the outside.
Strickland is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lewis can do to turn this around?

Lewis manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Strickland on his heels. He'll look to pass Strickland's guard now, I'm sure.
Lewis wants to control from the top but Strickland keeps moving.

A close second round but Matty Lewis will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Lewis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Strickland quickly recovers to half guard.
Lewis is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Lewis wants to stand but Strickland has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Lewis gets control of Strickland's arms and successfully pulls guard. Lewis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Lewis pulls Strickland in close to his closed guard and prevents Strickland from doing any damage or advancing position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Strickland shoots in but Lewis avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Lewis throws a sloppy head kick and Strickland moves out of range easily.

Lewis throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Strickland was covering up waiting for the punch and Lewis finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Lewis lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Lewis is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Strickland is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Strickland has escaped and now he's on top!

Strickland makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

I would just about give that final round to Matty Lewis.
I think Lewis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
