Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Keneth Bridges! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dexter Flips! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flips closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Bridges to the mat! Bridges manages to get full guard. Bridges trying to keep a closed guard but Flips is proving a slippery customer.
Flips drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Flips jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Bridges has his hands on Flips's head, controlling the position. Flips stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bridges swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bridges wants to get back to his feet but Flips is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Flips looking to pass the guard. Bridges is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bridges really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Flips regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bridges. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bridges wanted to stand there but Flips had control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flips looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Flips is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Bridges trying to control but Flips is working from the bottom. Bridges is looking to work some ground and pound but Flips has wrist control. Bridges trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Bridges postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Flips wants to sweep here but Bridges controlling him for the moment. Flips trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Flips preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Flips is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Bridges sitting in guard, not really doing much. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Bridges trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Bridges shoots in but Flips avoids the takedown attempt easily. Flips counters with a body kick. Flips has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bridges is landing a low percentage of strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Flips shoots in but no luck this time. Some wild striking there from Bridges.
Dexter Flips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Flips scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Bridges manages to get back to half guard. Bridges slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Bridges is trying to control the position but Flips postures up. Flips trying to control the position from guard on top but Bridges is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Flips stops Bridges from standing up. Bridges is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Bridges wants to stand but Flips is controlling the position. Bridges is breathing heavily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bridges not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Flips stays in close to Bridges's body and controls the position. Bridges is looking to stand up but Flips isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bridges blocks the body kick.
The fight moves into the clinch position. Flips drags the fight down to the ground.
Flips looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bridges looking to sit in guard and control but Flips gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Flips fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bridges, pushing him back against the cage. Flips manages to break the clinch.
Flips tries to land a body kick and Bridges counters with a two punch combo. Bridges gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Flips manages to break the clinch.
Flips shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bridges's guard. Bridges has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Flips off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Flips goes for a double leg but Bridges avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bridges continues to drive forward. Bridges shoots in but no luck this time. Flips throws a leg kick and Bridges counters with a three punch combo that has Flips backing up. Flips nods at Bridges to acknowledge the strikes. Bridges wants to clinch up but Flips keeps it at a distance. Flips with a lazy takedown attempt and Bridges connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Flips shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bridges but Bridges pushes him off and we're back to square one. Keneth Bridges has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dexter Flips. Flips is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bridges defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Flips. Bridges will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Flips steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect. Bridges closes this distance looking for a takedown but Flips circles away. Bridges shoots in but no luck this time. Flips only half commits to the counter leg kick. Flips fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Bridges to the ground. Flips is now in Bridges's guard. Flips tries to stand but Bridges is controlling from the bottom. Flips controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Bridges is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Bridges tries to land a sweep but no joy. Bridges pulls Flips in close to prevent any damage. Flips stays in close to Bridges's body and controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bridges is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Flips gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Flips looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Flips seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Bridges will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Bridges wants to stand and escape but Flips is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bridges tries to land a sweep but no joy. Flips decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Flips closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bridges quickly recovers to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Flips. Flips is keen to just control but Bridges is a slippery customer. Flips slips a nice elbow through Bridges's hands, connecting with Bridges's forehead. Dexter Flips has got the better of the ground game so far. Flips winds up and cracks Bridges with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Flips controlling the action here. Bridges tries to kick Flips off but Flips keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Bridges is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Flips stops Bridges from getting back to his feet.
Flips is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bridges defends it well. Bridges wants to control but Flips is keeping busy.
Flips perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Flips decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. A kick lands to the mid section there for Flips. Flips shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bridges as he jumps to the side. Bridges changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Flips tries to avoid it but Bridges manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Flips to the ground. Flips escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Flips. Bridges throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Flips shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bridges's guard. Bridges pushes Flips off and scrambles back to his feet.
Bridges bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Keneth Bridges will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Flips throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Bridges was covering up waiting for the punch and Flips finishes the takedown easily into guard. Bridges is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Flips is looking to stand up but Bridges won't let him. Bridges wants to stand but Flips is controlling the position. Flips is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Flips is working an open guard so Bridges takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Bridges closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Flips is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Sloppy strikes there by Bridges. Bridges connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Flips some visible discomfort.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bridges misses with the ground and pound. Bridges throwing strikes but Flips manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Bridges tries to buck Flips off but Flips is having none of it. Flips decides to stand back up. Flips steps back and let's Bridges get back to his feet. Flips moves in looking to clinch but Bridges pushes him off. Flips scores with a spinning back kick! Bridges rushes Flips and presses him up against the cage. Flips lands a good knee to the midsection. Bridges won't want to take too many of those. Flips manages to break the clinch.
Flips looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Flips is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Bridges working a defensive guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Bridges can't keep his opponent in guard - Flips advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Bridges manages to get to full guard.
