Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jake Ruth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Makres!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yuuki Gou and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ruth shoots in for a takedown but Makres shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ruth looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Makres keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
It looks like Jake Ruth has been cut.
Makres circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ruth misses with a takedown
and Makres counters with a right hand to the body.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Ruth. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makres keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Makres throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ruth.
Makres has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Makres goes for a small jab and connects. Now Makres goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Ruth stumbles back but Makres runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Ruth to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Ruth will ever be the same after a knockout like that.

John Makres gave a mention to Bee Krazy in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
