Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marco Giambi (ranked 21418 p4p, 466 weight class) and Machiavelli Vecellio (ranked 2722 p4p, 254 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Giambi might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mortal Kombat theme . Marco Giambi had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Vecellio misses the target.
Giambi takes the fight into the clinch.
Vecellio breaks the clinch.
Vecellio clinches with his opponent.
A short uppercut from Vecellio.
Giambi lands a hook that snaps the head of Vecellio backwards.
Vecellio wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Giambi has him pressed against the cage.
Vecellio misses with the head strike.
Vecellio can't break the clinch.
Vecellio breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

I was talking to Giambi's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Giambi tries to throw a body punch but Vecellio avoids it by throwing Giambi back against the cage.

Vecellio escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Giambi swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Giambi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Giambi throws out a loose jab but Vecellio uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vecellio looks to score with a jab to the body but Giambi is just out of range.
Giambi is looking for a counter combo.
Giambi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vecellio throws out the jab.

Vecellio wants to break the clinch but can't.

Vecellio tries to move into range but Giambi moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Giambi takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Giambi fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Vecellio, pushing him back against the cage.

Vecellio throws a predictable looking body shot
and Giambi counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Vecellio connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
A head kick misses from Giambi.
Vecellio sizes up Giambi with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Giambi moves to clinch but Vecellio breaks away
and Vecellio counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Vecellio looks to land a left hand but Giambi moved out of range nicely.
It looked like Giambi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Vecellio's corner calls for a 1-2. Vecellio obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Giambi moves into the clinch successfully.
Giambi tries to work over Vecellio's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Vecellio's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Vecellio misses with a two punch combination.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Machiavelli Vecellio dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Giambi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Giambi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Vecellio misses with an uppercut. Giambi saw that one coming.
Vecellio scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Giambi tries to clinch up.
Vecellio uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Giambi.
Vecellio wants to counter with a clinch but Giambi pushes him away.
Vecellio misses with an uppercut. Giambi saw that one coming.
Vecellio has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Giambi.

Giambi is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Vecellio bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
It looks like Marco Giambi has been cut.
Vecellio drops his shoulder and cracks Giambi with a huge uppercut! Giambi goes down! Can Vecellio finish him?
Giambi is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Vecellio gets to his feet - Giambi follows without any prompting.
Oh Giambi is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Vecellio engages and cracks Giambi with a massive lead left hook - Giambi tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Vecellio is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
