Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between David Gomes (ranked 3676 p4p, 377 weight class) and Markus Kiivi (ranked 4981 p4p, 461 weight class). Markus Kiivi looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, David Gomes! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Markus Kiivi! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kiivi tries to clinch and Gomes counters with a shoot takedown. Kiivi fights it but they end up in guard. Kiivi wants to get back to his feet but Gomes is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Kiivi looking for a guillotine here but Gomes defends easily.
Gomes tries to free his leg and advance position but Kiivi is retaining full guard. Gomes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gomes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Kiivi keeping full guard, as Gomes tries to pass. Gomes trying to move into half guard but instead Kiivi has managed to sweep!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gomes wants to sweep but no luck. Kiivi wants to stand and escape but instead Gomes has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Gomes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kiivi is keeping the position for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gomes pushes down on Kiivi's leg and manages to get into half guard. Gomes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kiivi is just riding it out for now. Gomes eventually gives up the hold. Kiivi wants to get back to full guard. Kiivi looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kiivi won't allow Gomes to pass to mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gomes is breathing heavily. Gomes prevents Kiivi from improving his position. Gomes wants to pass to mount but Kiivi is defending the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kiivi wants to get back to full guard. Kiivi is looking to escape. Gomes is looking to advance position but Kiivi won't allow it. Kiivi wants to improve his position but Gomes is controlling well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomes passes the guard and advances to mount! Kiivi wants to hold on but Gomes pushes him away. Gomes wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it. Gomes looking to finish with strikes here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gomes has hold of Kiivi's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kiivi manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gomes is trying to take his opponent's back.
Kiivi is working to get back to half guard.
Kiivi wants to hold on but Gomes pushes him away. Kiivi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Gomes fails to advance to Kiivi's back. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Kiivi gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Gomes dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Kiivi throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Gomes sees it coming and avoids it easily. Gomes looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Gomes circles away from the clinch attempt and Gomes counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gomes. Gomes really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kiivi keeping full guard, as Gomes tries to pass. Gomes trying to move into half guard but instead Kiivi has managed to sweep!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kiivi wants to control from the top but Gomes keeps moving. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Gomes avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kiivi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gomes is proving hard to escape from. Kiivi throws an elbow that misses. Gomes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Kiivi's guard. Nice move by Gomes! Kiivi wants to sweep but no luck. Gomes drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kiivi dives on top into guard.
Gomes is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kiivi can do to turn this around? Kiivi tries to stand but Gomes is controlling from the bottom. David Gomes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kiivi stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Gomes has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Kiivi manages to get his head free but now Gomes has transitioned to an armbar! Kiivi grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Gomes! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
