Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sakuma Yanagamichi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Percy Cunningham!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, John Kavanagh and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cunningham throws a series of strikes that have Yanagamichi backpedaling.
It looks like Sakuma Yanagamichi has been cut.
Cunningham misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cunningham fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Yanagamichi on the side of the head.
No luck for Yanagamichi with that takedown attempt.
It seemed like Cunningham was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Yanagamichi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cunningham tries to avoid it but Yanagamichi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cunningham to the ground. Cunningham escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cunningham wants to clinch up but Yanagamichi keeps it at a distance.
Yanagamichi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cunningham has momentary wrist control but Yanagamichi slips an elbow through the middle.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Yanagamichi with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Cunningham thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Yanagamichi arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Cunningham's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Sakuma Yanagamichi!
