Coming up we have a super heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Cyril Makarenko (ranked 2244 p4p, 55 weight class) and Reed Basaev (ranked 3164 p4p, 78 weight class). Makarenko comes to the ring accompanied by Macarena - Original version. Reed Basaev has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Cyril Makarenko's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
39 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Cyril Makarenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Reed Basaev! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Basaev scores with a head kick.
Basaev throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Makarenko sees it coming and avoids it easily. Basaev walks into a jab.
It looks like Reed Basaev has been cut. Basaev tries to bum rush Makarenko with a series of wild strikes but Makarenko uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Makarenko showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Basaev.
Basaev takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Makarenko misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Makarenko jabs at Basaev's body. Basaev doesn't manage to clinch there - Makarenko circles away.
Basaev stalks Makarenko and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Makarenko's face. Makarenko staggers backwards, shaken. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Basaev closes the distance and lands a one-two. A jab from Makarenko finds it's way through Basaev's defenses. Basaev throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Makarenko swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Basaev counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Basaev throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Makarenko fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Makarenko scores with a nice right hand.

That has opened up Reed Basaev's cut even more. Basaev fails in his attempt to clinch. A shot to the liver by Basaev. Beautiful body shot. Makarenko swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Makarenko throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Basaev sees it coming and avoids it easily. Basaev moves into range and clinches up with Makarenko. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Makarenko lands a body punch. Makarenko makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Makarenko's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Makarenko wants to stall.

Makarenko blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Basaev trying to control the position but instead, Makarenko has worked for underhooks and has pushed Basaev into the ropes. Basaev prevents a body shot from Makarenko. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Cyril Makarenko will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Reed Basaev's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Makarenko throws out a leg kick but Basaev moves out of range and Makarenko only half commits. Basaev throws a head kick that half lands.
Basaev takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Makarenko throws an overhand right that lands on Basaev's shoulder, as Basaev tries to avoid the shot. Basaev throws a hook but Makarenko avoids it easily. As Basaev looks to move away, Makarenko throws a big counter combo but Basaev just gets out of the way. Reed Basaev seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Makarenko takes a swing at Basaev's ribcage but misses. Makarenko jabbing away but nothing is landing. Makarenko throws a head kick but Basaev moves out of range.
Basaev throws a fast counter high kick but Makarenko manages to duck under it in time. Reed Basaev seems to be getting the better of the standup. Makarenko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Basaev circles away quickly and effectively. Makarenko swinging wildly here.
Makarenko moves out of range of the body kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Basaev misses with a jab, cross combination.
Basaev connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Makarenko connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Makarenko throws a hook but Basaev blocks it. Makarenko lands a front kick to the face, that drops Basaev to the canvas! Is he dazed or just shocked? He's back to his feet and the referee is going to allow him to continue the fight!
The cut above Reed Basaev's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Basaev stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick from Makarenko lands but Basaev takes it in his stride.
Basaev is rocked! Makarenko pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Basaev! But no joy. Basaev explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Makarenko misses with a wild body shot. Makarenko falls off balance throwing a combination
letting Basaev counter with a right hand. Basaev throws a head kick that half lands.
Basaev misses the jab. Basaev clips Makarenko with a right and a left that makes him do the chicken dance for a couple of seconds. He touched his left hand down on the canvas so the referee steps between the fighters to give Makarenko a standing 8 count before we can continue the bout. This has been an exciting period of action! Basaev swinging wildly here.
Basaev fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Makarenko has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Makarenko throws a big shot that misses. A little jabbing left from Basaev on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Makarenko throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Basaev - that will leave a mark!

Reed Basaev's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Basaev scores with a head kick. Makarenko tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Basaev misses with a double jab.

A close second round but Reed Basaev will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Reed Basaev's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Basaev lands on the inside with an uppercut. Basaev lands a left hand.

And that's the end of the fight! Reed Basaev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Basaev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Reed Basaev! Reed Basaev decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
