PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Snot Slurper (ranked 19 p4p, 4 weight class) and Alexey Andreev (ranked 61 p4p, 11 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Snot Slurper!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexey Andreev!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slurper misses with an uppercut. Andreev saw that one coming.
Slurper misses with a right hand
and Andreev makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Andreev tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Slurper defends well and Andreev ends up having to push Slurper into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Andreev connects with a body shot that sends Slurper's belly button to the back.
Andreev tries to clinch up but Slurper circles away and keeps his distance.
A decent looking cross lands there for Andreev.
Some wild striking there from Slurper.
Andreev misses with a body punch
and Andreev takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.


It looks like Alexey Andreev has been cut.
Andreev ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Slurper moves away.
Slurper swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Nice straight punches there by Andreev. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Andreev.
Slurper throws a big shot that misses.
Andreev is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
A left lands for Slurper.
Slurper thows a left - swing and a miss!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd cheers as Andreev lands an impressive looking overhand right. Slurper doesn't seem phased though.

Slurper throws an overhand right that lands on Andreev's shoulder, as Andreev tries to avoid the shot.
Slurper drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Andreev throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Slurper seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Andreev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Andreev working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Slurper has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Andreev postures up in Slurper's guard and throws a big left but Slurper blocks it.
Andreev is stalling in the full guard.

Slurper manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Andreev manages to get himself to full guard.


Andreev is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Andreev has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Slurper is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Andreev.

Andreev is trying to control Slurper's posture but Slurper avoids it.
Andreev manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Andreev throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Slurper to regain full guard.

Andreev scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Slurper is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A looping hook to the body misses from Andreev. Slurper does a little dance to reset his feet.
Andreev slips under a jab.
Slurper pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Andreev blocks a jab.
Andreev has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Andreev there as he acknowledges the shot.
Nice shot lands for Slurper.
Andreev misses with a jab to the body
and Slurper counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Andreev scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Slurper keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Andreev.
Snot Slurper is winning the standup battle so far.
Slurper throws the left hand but Andreev avoids the punch easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slurper swats away the attempt to clinch by Andreev.
Andreev throws a right hand that misses
and Slurper counters with a stiff right hand.
Andreev loads up on a big right hand but Slurper slips the punch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Andreev, as that shot connected.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A slow jab from Andreev misses its intended target.
Slurper is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Slurper staying out of range there.
Andreev lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Slurper jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Andreev misses with a double jab.
Slurper throwing a counter right hand but Andreev manages to avoid it.
Andreev tries to clinch up.
Andreev scores with the left hand. Slurper knows he should have avoided that one.
Slurper misses with a lunging right hand
and Andreev counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Slurper cracks Andreev with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Andreev tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Slurper pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Andreev is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Snot Slurper!
