PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Giuseppe Mcintosh (ranked 7533 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 4837 p4p, 459 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Giuseppe Mcintosh has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Giuseppe Mcintosh seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Giuseppe Mcintosh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Albert Achterberg and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcintosh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Smith throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mcintosh counters with a series of strikes. Smith will be more careful next time no doubt.
Smith wants to clinch.
Mcintosh swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith blocks a head kick by Mcintosh.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Mcintosh keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Smith lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Smith throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Mcintosh to regain full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mcintosh holds on and takes a little breather.
Mcintosh keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
Mcintosh has Smith pulled in close to control his posture.
Smith looking to sit in guard and control but Mcintosh gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mcintosh could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Mcintosh manages to pass to side control.

Mcintosh stands up from half guard.

Smith closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mcintosh's guard.
Smith sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mcintosh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smith is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mcintosh is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Smith throws a strike but Mcintosh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Smith looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mcintosh slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mcintosh postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mcintosh keeps the fight on the outside.
Giuseppe Mcintosh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Smith thumps Mcintosh with a low kick.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Mcintosh swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Mcintosh lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.

Smith bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Smith throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Mcintosh works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Mcintosh makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mcintosh.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Mcintosh will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Smith is trying to get an arm triangle but Mcintosh is defending well.

Smith has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Smith decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mcintosh, up you get!

Mcintosh tries to pull guard but Smith forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Mcintosh swings wildly with an uppercut but Smith uses good head movement to avoid it.
Smith gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mcintosh.
Mcintosh really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...
Mcintosh tries to pull guard but Smith forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Giuseppe Mcintosh. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Smith winds up and cracks Mcintosh with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Smith wants to control from the top but Mcintosh keeps moving.

John Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Mcintosh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Smith moves in looking to clinch but Mcintosh pushes him off.
Mcintosh takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Mcintosh rushes Smith and presses him up against the cage.

Mcintosh has picked Smith up - he's going for a ride! Mcintosh dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Smith kicks off Mcintosh and gets to his feet.

Smith throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Mcintosh tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Smith is in Mcintosh's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Smith wants to get up but he can't break Mcintosh's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

John Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.

Smith wants to stand but Mcintosh is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Mcintosh ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Smith moves away.
As Mcintosh backs off Smith throws a huge counter combo but Mcintosh manages to avoid it all.
Mcintosh swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Smith throws a low kick but Mcintosh avoids it.
Mcintosh went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Smith throws a series of strikes that have Mcintosh backpedaling.

Smith feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mcintosh pulls Smith in close to his closed guard and prevents Smith from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mcintosh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Smith throws a big right hand that misses.
Smith throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mcintosh works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
