Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cayden Monroe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ru Shi Wu Cao!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monroe tries to close the distance and clinch but Wu Cao swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Monroe looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Wu Cao misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Wu Cao closes the distance and pushes Monroe back into the cage.
Wu Cao has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Monroe uses from the top position.
Wu Cao is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Monroe really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Wu Cao is looking to stand up but Monroe isn't so interested in that idea.
Monroe has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Let's hope that Wu Cao has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Wu Cao has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Special Ops Training . Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wu Cao wants to stand but Monroe is controlling the position.

Monroe throws a strike but Wu Cao rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Monroe has momentary wrist control but Wu Cao slips an elbow through the middle.
Oh Monroe is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wu Cao arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Monroe's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ru Shi Wu Cao!
