Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Stevenson (ranked 7523 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riki Maru (ranked 4114 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Stevenson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Riki Maru! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Thiago Cunha and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maru throws a nice looking combination but Stevenson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Stevenson swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Stevenson has a takedown stuffed. Maru is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Maru listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
It looks like Daniel Stevenson has been cut. Maru throws a right and a left that Stevenson avoids nicely. Stevenson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Maru clinches up with Stevenson and pushes him back against the cage. Maru is pressed up against the cage. Stevenson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Maru down to the mat. Maru avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Maru lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Maru lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Maru. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Maru scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Stevenson slips a jab and a cross from Maru.
Maru misses with a few strikes there.
Stevenson tries to counter by clinching up but Maru breaks away and moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maru works over Stevenson's head and body with a nice combination.
Stevenson is rocked! Maru lands a big right hook! Stevenson looks hurt but is still standing! Maru lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Stevenson falls down and Maru dives in with a huge hammer fist! Stevenson's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Maru runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Riki Maru!
