PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boss Yonic (ranked 966 p4p, 32 weight class) and Raycon Figg (ranked 2302 p4p, 100 weight class). Raycon Figg told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Boss Yonic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Raycon Figg!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Figg throws a hook but Yonic avoids it easily.
Figg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Yonic throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Figg tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Yonic is in Figg's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Figg can't keep his opponent in guard - Yonic advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Yonic is nestled in close to Figg, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Yonic seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Figg does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It seemed like Figg was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Figg throws a series of punches but Yonic avoids them all with ease.
Yonic lands a really nice looking cross but Figg seems unphased.

Figg working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yonic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yonic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Yonic is looking to take a break and control but Figg is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Figg is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

A lull in the action here.
Figg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yonic. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Figg is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Yonic frees his head nicely. Oh but Figg has switched to an armbar! Yonic is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

A relieved looking Raycon Figg thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Boss Yonic had this to say: 'Oh rats.'.
