Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kamakiri Yoritomo (ranked 1193 p4p, 159 weight class) and Russell Westbrook (ranked 3021 p4p, 327 weight class). Yoritomo comes to the cage accompanied by Praying Mantis - Praying Mantis. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Westbrook throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
We've been told by Yoritomo's head coaches at Rokugan that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Yoritomo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Yoritomo ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Westbrook slips a straight right by Yoritomo.
Yoritomo clobbers Westbrook with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Yoritomo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Westbrook. Westbrook circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Westbrook has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Yoritomo shoots for a double leg takedown but Westbrook sprawls well. He's pushed Yoritomo's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

In his post fight interview, Russell Westbrook started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Kamakiri Yoritomo was interviewed post fight and said 'I broke three fingers last night because of this blind referee's sister.'.
