Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chief Wolf (ranked 1460 p4p, 186 weight class) and Willy Brandon (ranked 2456 p4p, 283 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chief Wolf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Willy Brandon!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandon lands a head kick. Wolf smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Brandon lands a nice shot to the body.
A combination from Brandon does no damage.
Wolf half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Wolf slips a jab and a cross from Brandon.
Wolf shoots in for a takedown but Brandon shows good takedown defense.
Wolf keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Wolf closes the distance and clinches up with Brandon, looking for a takedown. Wolf pushes Brandon against the cage but Brandon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Brandon cracks Wolf with an open hand slap.
A left lands for Brandon.
Wolf misses with a takedown attempt - Brandon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chief Wolf. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Brandon gets caught napping as Wolf dives in and scores a takedown. Brandon manages to retain guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Brandon is striking off his back. Wolf thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Wolf is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Brandon doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Wolf.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Brandon seems keen to control Wolf's posture.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Brandon is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Brandon stuffs the takedown.
Brandon lands with a nice body punch.
Brandon cracks Wolf with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Wolf takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Brandon displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wolf.
Brandon lands a glancing blow to the side of Wolf's head.
Wolf has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Wolf doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Brandon counters with a nice uppercut.

Wolf shoots in for a takedown but Brandon shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wolf tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Brandon swivels and escapes.

and Brandon holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Wolf wants to break the clinch but can't.
Wolf has Brandon pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Brandon manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Brandon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wolf looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Wolf goes for a double leg but Brandon avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Brandon continues to drive forward.
Wolf takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Wolf dives in and grabs Brandon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Brandon pushes down on Wolf's head and hops out.
Wolf is breathing heavily.
Wolf fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Brandon scores with a jab to the jaw.

Brandon stuns Wolf with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Brandon is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Wolf had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brandon throws a one two combo.
Brandon misses with a double jab.
Wolf tries to counter with a takedown but Brandon is quick to defend against it.
Brandon lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
The crowd cheers as Brandon lands an impressive looking overhand right. Wolf doesn't seem phased though.
Brandon cracks Wolf with a right hand to the side of the head.
Wolf takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Brandon scores with a crisp jab that stopped Wolf in his tracks.

Wolf shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Wolf seems to be looking for submissions.

Wolf is working for a submission of some sort.
Brandon is doing well to control the position and prevent Wolf from advancing to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brandon fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Wolf looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wolf closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Brandon to the mat! Brandon manages to get full guard.
Brandon seems keen to control Wolf's posture.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brandon's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Wolf pushes down on Brandon's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Brandon wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

A solid leg kick lands there for Brandon.

Brandon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wolf manages to get himself to full guard.


Brandon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wolf has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Brandon has managed to get both his arms back between Wolf's legs - danger averted.

Wolf stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brandon swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Brandon is adopting a defensive guard.

Wolf has gone for a leg lock! Brandon slips out almost immediately though and dives into Wolf's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Willy Brandon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Brandon digs a good body shot into Wolf's ribs.
Brandon throws a combination. Wolf tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Willy Brandon seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Brandon connects with a nice looking jab.
Wolf takes one on the button.
Brandon misses with a wild combination.
Brandon looks for the body kick but Wolf saw that one coming.

Wolf feints and as Brandon raises his hands in defense, Wolf changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Brandon is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Wolf presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brandon is trying to break free.
I was talking to Wolf's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Brandon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wolf shoots in looking for a takedown. Brandon tries to sprawl out of it but Wolf keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Brandon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Brandon darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Brandon scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Brandon fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Wolf is trying to control Brandon's posture but Brandon avoids it.
Brandon throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Wolf regains half guard.
Brandon passes the guard and advances to mount!
Wolf is desperately trying to improve his position but Brandon has a good base and remains in mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
BOOM! Brandon connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Brandon throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Wolf because Brandon loaded up on that one.

Brandon punching from mount but Wolf doing a good job of avoiding damage.

My spies in Death Valley Training Facility inform me that Brandon has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Wolf tries to lock up and control but Brandon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Willy Brandon has got the better of the ground game so far.
Wolf is looking to improve his position but Brandon isn't that keen on the idea.
Wolf is squirming around, avoiding Brandon's attempts to control the action.
Brandon throwing strikes here but Wolf is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.

Wolf wants to control but Brandon is having none of it.

Wolf has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brandon is working away from the top position though.

Wolf is not content to let Brandon control the position.
Wolf is pushing Brandon's head away, looking to escape. Brandon manages to hold on to the position though.
Wolf tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Brandon wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Willy Brandon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Wolf regains half guard.
Wolf is staying active underneath Brandon, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Wolf looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wolf is not content to let Brandon control the position.
Still in half guard, Brandon seems content to control.

Wolf actively working from the bottom here.
Wolf has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Brandon is working away from the top position though.
Chief Wolf has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Brandon wants to take a breather but Wolf is having none of it.

Willy Brandon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Brandon has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
