The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abott thows a left - swing and a miss!
Rassum drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rassum trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rassum is looking to stand up but Abott won't let him.
Abott is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Abott wants to stand but Rassum is controlling the position.
Abott keeping full guard, as Rassum tries to pass.
Rassumis looking to pass into half guard but Abott pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Abott is in guard.
Rassum is pulling down on Abott's head to control his posture.
Rassum wants to stand up but Abott is controlling him.

Rassum lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Abott!
Abott is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rassum throws some wild stikes that Abott manages to avoid easily.

Rassum goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Abott is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abott won't allow Rassum to sweep him here.
Rassum is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Abott is looking to escape.

Rassum seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Abott does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Rassum is looking to advance position but Abott won't allow it.

Abott throws a right and a left that Rassum avoids nicely.
A left and a right from Abott both land. Nice combination.
Nice takedown defense from Abott. No joy for Rassum on that attempt.
Abott tries to clinch up but Rassum circles away and keeps his distance.
No luck for Rassum with that takedown attempt.
Abott fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rassum tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Abott swivels and escapes.
Paul Abott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Balack Rassum.
Abott misses with the combination.
Rassum looks for a takedown but Abott sprawls well.

A close round but Balack Rassum will probably get the nod.

Abott darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Abott looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Abott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rassum fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rassum shoots in and bounces Abott off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Abott wants to get back to his feet but Rassum is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Abott knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rassum on the ground.
Rassum pushing down on Abott's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rassum wants to free his trapped foot but Abott is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Rassum works his foot free and advances to mount.
Rassum wants to control the pace but Abott is squirming around nicely.
Rassum working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Abott turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Rassum off and cradles Abott's limp body as Rassum celebrates with his corner.
