Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darrel Petersen (ranked 260 p4p, 37 weight class) and Stephen Campbell (ranked 392 p4p, 54 weight class). Stephen Campbell has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Darrel Petersen's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Darrel Petersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 10 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stephen Campbell!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Russell Pearce and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Petersen moves away from the strike by Campbell.
Campbell throws a leg kick but Petersen sees it coming and moves out of range.
Campbell throws a body shot but no joy.
Petersen tries to clinch there but Campbell circles away.
Campbell lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Campbell fakes the leg kick and cracks Petersen in the body.
Campbell throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Campbell's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Petersen connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Campbell scrambles back to his feet.

Darrel Petersen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Petersen stands and throws Campbell's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Petersen wants to control for a moment but Campbell uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.

Horrible takedown attempt by Campbell or perhaps it was just good defense by Petersen, which made it look bad.

We've been hearing good reports from Petersen's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Campbell closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Petersen's guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Campbell working his ground and pound in the gym.
Petersen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Petersen is stalling here. Campbell is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Petersen seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Campbell has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

The fighters circling - Campbell throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

and Petersen counters with a stiff right hand.

Petersen fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Petersen walks into a stiff left hand from Campbell.
Petersen misses with a hook. Campbell ducked under it nicely.
Campbell swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Campbell throws a push kick but Petersen slaps the foot to one side.
No joy there for Petersen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Campbell ducks under a wild hook from Petersen.
Petersen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Petersen lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Petersen moves out of range as Campbell strikes.
Campbell misses the shot to the body.
Petersen shoots in for a double leg but Campbell sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Stephen Campbell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Campbell has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
