PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antonio Omas (ranked 3530 p4p, 184 weight class) and Raphael Firenzi (ranked 6910 p4p, 267 weight class). Antonio Omas had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 136.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raphael Firenzi!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omas fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Firenzi connects with a nice short shot to Omas's temple.

Firenzi has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Omas is on him like a limpet, forcing Firenzi back against the cage.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Antonio Omas. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Omas has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Firenzi is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Omas closes the distance and clinches up with Firenzi, looking for a takedown. Omas pushes Firenzi against the cage but Firenzi circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Omas's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
