Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jami Jarr (ranked 5970 p4p, 117 weight class) and Umezawa Masatake (ranked 3770 p4p, 96 weight class). Jami Jarr has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jami Jarr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Umezawa Masatake!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jarr closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Masatake to the mat! Masatake manages to get full guard.
Masatake preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Jarr controls from within his opponent's guard.

Jarr stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Masatake throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jarr sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jarr tries to counter by clinching up but Masatake breaks away and moves out of range.

Jarr bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jarr has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jarr thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Jarr is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Masatake's shoulder. That is not cool.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jarr has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Masatake throws a leg kick which misses Jarr's front leg but catches the back leg as Jarr tries to avoid it.
Jarr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Masatake manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jarr rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Masatake moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Masatake connects with a leg kick. Jarr looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Jarr takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Jarr gets a takedown into half guard.
Masatake scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Jarr manages to mount him!
Masatake is working to get back to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jarr is in the full mount, landing strikes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jarr content just to control the position here.

Jarr jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Masatake is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Masatake and Jarr has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Jarr in side control lands a decent elbow.
Masatake tries to buck Jarr off but Jarr is having none of it.
Jarr controlling the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jami Jarr dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Masatake scores with a jab.
Masatake throws a lazy right hand but Jarr sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Jarr takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Masatake gets tackled into the cage by Jarr. Jarr maintains the clinch.
Masatake lands a body punch in the clinch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Jarr takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Masatake misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Jarr lands a shoulder strike.
Masatake misses with some punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A right hand to the body from Masatake.
Masatake misses with a punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Masatake fails to land.
Jarr lands a left hand that snaps the head of Masatake backwards.
Masatake lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Masatake is trying to break the clinch but Jarr is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jarr fails to pull guard.
Masatake working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Jarr tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Masatake avoids it.
Masatake misses with a hook from the clinch.
Masatake doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Masatake wants to break free but Jarr has control.
Masatake lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Jarr backwards.
Masatake struggles to land a body shot inside as Jarr controls his hands.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Jarr.

Jarr wants the takedown. Masatake is fighting it off but Jarr persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Masatake's guard against the cage.

Masatake manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jarr turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Jarr tries to move into full mount but can't pass Masatake's legs.
Masatake is trying to improve his position.
Jami Jarr overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee asks Jarr politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Jarr prefers to stall for the moment though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jarr is working Masatake over with some ground and pound from side control.
Masatake really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jarr. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jarr content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Umezawa Masatake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Masatake leaves Jarr with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jarr gets a takedown into half guard.

Jarr is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Jarr slows the pace down in half guard.
Masatake has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Jarr decides to stand up.
A jab lands there for Masatake.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jarr looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Masatake!

Jarr goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Masatake has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jarr but great work by Masatake.
Jarr is trying to control Masatake's posture but Masatake avoids it.
Masatake tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Jarr manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Jarr slows the pace down in half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jami Jarr.
I think Jarr has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
