Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aslanbek Barayev (ranked 516 p4p, 64 weight class) and Gustav Ahr (ranked 968 p4p, 115 weight class). Barayev comes to the cage accompanied by Antirespect - There. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aslanbek Barayev! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gustav Ahr! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barayev connects with a jab. Barayev tries to close the distance and clinch but Ahr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Ahr throws out a counter right but Barayev avoids it with no problem. Barayev wants to clinch up but Ahr keeps it at a distance. Barayev takes one to the side of the head.
Barayev tries to clinch up. Ahr cracks Barayev with a good jab. Barayev tries to close the distance and clinch but Ahr swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Barayev moves in looking to clinch but Ahr pushes him off. Barayev is looking to clinch but Ahr is avoiding it.
Barayev looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Ahr misses with a body shot.

Barayev takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Barayev wants to clinch. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ahr has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Ahr changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Ahr thuds a left hand into Barayev's body. Ahr thuds his right hand into Barayev's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. This has been an exciting period of action! Ahr punishes Barayev's body with a nice straight punch. Barayev fails with an attempt to clinch.
Barayev is looking to clinch but Ahr is avoiding it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ahr misses with a wild body shot. Ahr ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Barayev moves away. A big right from Ahr misses. Barayev clinches with his opponent.

Ahr misses with a short punch on the inside. Barayev gets control of Ahr's arms and successfully pulls guard. Barayev will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Ahr must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Barayev is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ahr is aware though and is defending well. Ahr lands a couple of decent looking shots. Ahr is looking to work some ground and pound but Barayev has wrist control. Barayev is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ahr controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Barayev trying to keep a closed guard but Ahr is proving a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barayev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ahr doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Barayev is tightening it up a little... Ahr has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Ahr reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Ahr taps out! Nice BJJ there by Barayev!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Aslanbek Barayev! Aslanbek Barayev retains his featherweight title! After the big win, Aslanbek Barayev made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors Voodoo Nutrition and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.
