PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yoshiro Akiyama (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Joseph (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akiyama comes into the arena with Time To Say Goodbye blaring out of the sound system. Joseph is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Fight Music. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Anthony Joseph!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joseph fails with the takedown.
Akiyama throws a leg kick but Joseph sees it coming and moves out of range.

Joseph shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Akiyama as he jumps to the side.
Joseph shoots in and drives through. Akiyama sprawls well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joseph postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Akiyama is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Joseph, into his guard.

Joseph has an active guard here but Akiyama has managed to pass into half guard.
Joseph takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The fighters are battling for position here. Joseph manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Joseph looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Akiyama gets to his feet - Joseph follows without any prompting.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Akiyama. Joseph shrugs it off though.
Joseph avoids the body shot from Akiyama.
Anthony Joseph has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Akiyama keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

And that's the end of the fight!
Yoshiro Akiyama showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Akiyama, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
