Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Philip Clemons (ranked 5947 p4p, 0 weight class) and Collin Sims (ranked 4465 p4p, 0 weight class). Collin Sims will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Philip Clemons!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Collin Sims!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sims darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Clemons keeping control of the position.
Sims blocks the strikes from Clemons.

Sims is working for a submission of some sort.

Sims is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Clemons looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Clemons wants to get back to full guard.
Clemons is looking to control Sims's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Clemons avoid being mounted?
Sims blocks the strikes from Clemons.

Sims is looking for a kimura but Clemons is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Sims to get the leverage.

Clemons is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sims pulls his head out easily.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Sims looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Clemons makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sims decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Clemons has a hand on Sims's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Sims takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Sims is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Clemons has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Clemons!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clemons postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Clemons working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Sims's head.

Clemons got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sims has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Clemons has managed to get both his arms back between Sims's legs - danger averted.
Clemons engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Clemons is working Sims over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Clemons wants to stand but Sims is controlling his posture from full guard.

Sims is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Clemons is looking to stand up but Sims won't let him.
Clemons might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Sims had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clemons defends it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sims has momentary wrist control but Clemons slips an elbow through the middle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Clemons lands a couple of digs.

Clemons stands up and waves to Sims to follow him.
Sims darts in trying to clinch

and Clemons counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Philip Clemons will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Sims shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Clemons's guard.
Sims is standing up over Clemons. Clemons looks to escape but Sims dives into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Clemons knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sims on the ground.
Clemons strikes from the bottom but Sims takes advantage and advances to full mount!

Sims looking for a guillotine from mount but Clemons is having none of it.

Sims with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clemons regains half guard.
Clemons is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sims's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sims's back!

I really don't envy Sims right now.
Sims manages to reverse the position and now he's in Clemons's guard. Nice work there by Sims.
Philip Clemons overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Connects with an elbow from the bottom, proving to the judges that he's still active off his back.

Sims has gone for a leg lock! Clemons slips out almost immediately though and dives into Sims's guard.


Clemons gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Sims closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Clemons did well to prevent Sims getting side control.
Clemons is trying to escape back to his feet but Sims uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Sims tries for a kimura but Clemons is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sims seems to be working for a kimura but Clemons defends the submission attempt.
Clemons wants to get back to full guard.

Sims is working for a kimura but Clemons is defending it quite comfortably.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Clemons throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Sims is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Sims looking for a submission but Clemons manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

A close second round but Collin Sims will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

and Clemons counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Clemons has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Clemons decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sims, up you get!

Sims shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sims was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Clemons tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Clemons is in bad spot here.
Clemons could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Clemons tries to get to his feet, scrambling wildly. Sims sees the opportunity and transitions to an armbar that forces Clemons to tap. Impressive finish!
