Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Cahill (ranked 2793 p4p, 316 weight class) and Jeff Romart (ranked 4204 p4p, 412 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tim Cahill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jeff Romart! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Romart goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. A counter left hand to the body from Cahill misses its target. Cahill takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Romart rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Cahill counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Cahill connects with a leg kick. Romart looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Romart throws an off balance right hand
and Cahill counters with a lovely shot to the body. Cahill dodges the punch combination from Romart.
A little feinted left hand from Cahill on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Cahill looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Cahill fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Romart, pushing him back against the cage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A left hand lands to the body for Romart.

Romart's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button! Romart tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Romart lands a body punch in the clinch. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Cahill jumps guard.
Cahill is looking for a triangle but Romart pushes his legs off easily.
We've been hearing good reports from Cahill's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cahill throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Romart escapes and throws Cahill's legs to the side, diving into side control! Romart working away. Cahill is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Romart off and has taken his back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Romart is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Cahill tries to get the hooks in deep but Romart pushed the leg off. Romart has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Cahill. Romart manages to reverse the position and now he's in Cahill's guard. Nice work there by Romart.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cahill is looking to sweep but instead, Romart has passed into half guard.

Cahill is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Romart pulls his head out easily. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Romart lands a nice short elbow. Cahill looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Romart wants to take a breather but Cahill is having none of it. Romart is nestled in close to Cahill, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Romart passes into side control, despite Cahill's attempt to control the position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cahill trying to control but Romart flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Romart has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Cahill's body.

That was a close round but I would say that Tim Cahill will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cahill is defended easily by Romart. Cahill scores with a spinning back kick! Romart sizes up Cahill with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Romart misses with a double jab.

Romart will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cahill closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Romart to the mat! Romart manages to get full guard. Romart pushes Cahill off and scrambles back to his feet.
Romart throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Cahill jabbing away but nothing is landing. Cahill stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Romart. Cahill closes the distance and pushes Romart back into the cage. Cahill tries to score a body lock takedown but Romart shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Cahill tries to throw a body punch but Romart avoids it by throwing Cahill back against the cage. Romart throws a head punch that misses. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cahill lands with a short shot to the head. Romart gets through Cahill's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Romart's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Romart tried to score with a low kick but Cahill checks it. Jeff Romart is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Romart keeps the fight on the outside.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cahill feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Romart keeping full guard, as Cahill tries to pass. Romart is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Romart preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Romart can't keep his opponent in guard - Cahill advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cahill is looking for a kimura here.

It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Romart defends it well. Cahill is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Romart's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Romart is trying to break the clinch but Cahill is controlling him. Cahill misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cahill keeps control of Romart as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Cahill is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Romart gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Cahill lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Cahill is working Romart over against the cage. Cahill tries a body shot but Romart blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Romart looks to throw an elbow but misses. Cahill lands a takedown into guard.

Romart keeps the fight on the outside. It seemed like Romart was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Romart misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cahill.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cahill slips a jab from Romart. Romart throws a solid leg kick but Cahill takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Romart. Romart listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Romart throws a body punch but Cahill moves out of range. Cahill jabs Romart to the body, keeping him at a distance. A bone on bone clash there as Cahill blocks the leg kick.
Romart misses the shot to the body. Romart fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cahill manages to avoid it. Jeff Romart is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Romart throws out a powerful jab. Cahill walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Romart misses with a low kick. Cahill feinted there with a counter leg kick. Romart looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
And that's the end of the fight! Jeff Romart comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Romart has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
