Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arturo Bass (ranked 23808 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pascal Saikim (ranked 4021 p4p, 0 weight class). Saikim has chosen Kanye West- Touch da Sky as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arturo Bass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pascal Saikim!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ron Honeybunn and Topper Green.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saikim drives through with a takedown into Bass's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Bass has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Saikim off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Saikim dodges the punch combination from Bass.

Saikim gets a takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bass looks like he's trying to stand up.
Saikim throws a strike but Bass avoids it easily and moves to full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bass wants to stand up but Saikim is controlling him.
Bass is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Saikim stops Bass from standing up.
Bass utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bass is pulling down on Saikim's head. It's preventing any offense from Saikim, at least for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Saikim drives through with a takedown into Bass's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Bass manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Saikim manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Saikim working a defensive guard but Bass passes into half guard.
Saikim is looking for a sweep. Bass is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Saikim on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Saikim looks like he's trying to stand up.

Bass scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Bass working the head and body with strikes.
Saikim tries to get to full guard but Bass has control of the leg.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Bass connects with a nice short shot to Saikim's temple.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bass winds up and cracks Saikim with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Saikim gets full guard.
Bass postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bass distracts Saikim with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bass is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Bass scoring with punches to the head and body.
Saikim really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Bass is in close to Saikim's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Saikim is working an open guard so Bass takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bass swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Bass moves into the clinch.

Bass pulls guard effortlessly.

Bass manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Good leg kick by Bass there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Bass closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Saikim is trying to escape the position but Bass is controlling the position.
Bass working the ground and pound from side control.
Saikim is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Saikim taking a bit of punishment here - Bass scoring with strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arturo Bass dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


An inside leg kick lands from Bass.

Saikim drives through with a takedown into Bass's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Bass wants to get back to his feet but Saikim is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bass really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Bass is pulling down on Saikim's head to control his posture.
Bass wants to stand up but Saikim is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bass is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Saikim rolls with it to try and escape but Bass cranks on the arm and Saikim is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
