Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Elroy Barry! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, TJ Minchew! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Minchew is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Barry really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Barry is pressed up against the cage. Minchew has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barry down to the mat. Barry avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Barry looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Minchew is fending him off so far but Barry persists. Nope, Minchew circles away and we're back to standing. Minchew is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Minchew gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Barry makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Elroy Barry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of TJ Minchew. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Minchew closes the distance but Barry moves to the side and Barry counters with a takedown into side control. Barry knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Minchew on the ground. Minchew is looking to reverse the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Barry working away. Who's going to make the next move? Minchew wants to control but Barry postures up. Barry wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Minchew, who protects the arm well. Minchew struggling a bit here. Barry lands some shots froms side control. Minchew misses with an elbow from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Barry landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Barry working away. Minchew is looking to regain half guard here but Barry keeps moving and retains side control. Minchew is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Barry asserts his dominance and retains side control. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Barry creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Minchew is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Minchew is defending against the submission attempts here by Barry.

Barry is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Barry looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Minchew with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

The fighters are battling for position here. Minchew manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Minchew is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Barry lands a couple of digs. Minchew has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barry can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Minchew looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Elroy Barry dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Minchew fails with the takedown. Barry circles away from the clinch attempt.
Minchew will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Barry closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Barry has Minchew pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Barry pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Minchew tumbling to the mat - Barry dives into Minchew's guard. Elroy Barry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Minchew has his foot on Barry's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Barry works his way back into a safe position though.

Barry is working Minchew over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Barry drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Minchew dives on top into guard.
Barry will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Minchew is looking to advance position but Barry has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Barry prevents Minchew from getting the reversal. Minchew is breathing heavily. Barry looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Minchew is desperately trying to improve his position but Barry has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Minchew wants to control but Barry is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Barry trying to control but Minchew is having none of it. Barry working the ground and pound effectively.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Barry moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Minchew has worked his arm free - good work by Minchew!

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Minchew trying to control from the bottom.

Elroy Barry dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Minchew darts in trying to clinch and Barry counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Barry. Minchew trying to keep a closed guard but Barry is proving a slippery customer.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. You can see the frustration on Minchew's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Minchew sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Minchew has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barry is working away from the top position though.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Minchew shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Barry but Barry pushes him off and we're back to square one. Barry is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Minchew can do to turn this around? Barry shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Minchew as he avoids it easily. Minchew unleashes a big counter combination but Barry bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Barry takes the fight into the clinch. Barry decides to pull guard. Barry is pulling down on Minchew's head to control his posture.

And that's the end of the fight! Elroy Barry showed his dominance in that final round. Well Barry has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
