Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Black (ranked 1246 p4p, 147 weight class) and Eddie Gelfen (ranked 1522 p4p, 172 weight class). Black kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Manu Chao - Mr. Bobby. Eddie Gelfen told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Donk. Black catches Gelfen right on the button with a cross.
Gelfen jabs at Black's body.
Gelfen lands a head shot.

Black takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Gelfen turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Gelfen manages to end up in side control.

Gelfen feints and then cracks Black's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Black down.
Black stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Gelfen.

Gelfen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Black swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gelfen wants to get up but he can't break Black's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Gelfen slips under a jab.
A nice inside leg kick there by Gelfen. That's going to slow Black down.
Gelfen misses with a hook. Black ducked under it nicely.

Gelfen fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Black has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Black wants to stall.
Gelfen will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Black up against the cage.

Gelfen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Black is looking to control Gelfen's arms but Gelfen gets an underhook and turns him. Now Black has his back to the cage.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gelfen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gelfen tries to free his leg and advance position but Black is retaining full guard.
Black is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Black got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gelfen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Black has managed to get both his arms back between Gelfen's legs - danger averted.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Gelfen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Black's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gelfen connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Black scrambles back to his feet.

Black throws a lazy right hand but Gelfen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gelfen has closed the distance and engaged Black in a clinch.

Black needs to keep his hands up - Gelfen had a free shot at his head there.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Gelfen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Black has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Black and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Black tries to counter with a takedown but Gelfen is quick to defend against it.

Gelfen lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Black is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Black glances at the clock... BAM! Gelfen nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Black crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Black is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Eddie Gelfen decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
