Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nicky Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 53 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Santos!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Santos fails to land with a series of punches.
Ryan tries to counter with a takedown but Santos is quick to defend against it.
Ryan has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Santos tries to bum rush Ryan with a series of wild strikes but Ryan uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Santos lands a left and a right that sends Ryan crashing to the canvas! Santos dives into mount looking to finish!
Ryan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Ryan is trying to escape the mount.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Ryan reaches up to try and control the position but Santos seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Ryan rolls and tries to escape and now Santos has his back!

Well, with Santos on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Ryan is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Let's hope that Santos has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Santos trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Ryan doesn't escape.

Ryan tries to escape but Santos has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Santos lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Ryan backs up against the cage.

Santos lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Ryan sprawling to the canvas. Santos follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Ryan hang on?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Ryan wants to control but Santos is having none of it.

Ryan tries to lock up and control but Santos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Ryan trying to control the position but Santos manages to sink in the hooks.

Ryan tries to roll but Santos sticks to his back.
What can Ryan do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Gustavo Santos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Santos rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ryan moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ryan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Santos misses with a two punch combination.
Ryan tries to counter with a takedown but Santos is quick to defend against it.
Ryan shoots in looking for a takedown. Santos tries to sprawl out of it but Ryan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Santos manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Santos misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ryan changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Santos drops Ryan with a right and a left! Santos comes rushing in but Ryan regains his composure and manages to keep Santos in guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Santos is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Ryan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Ryan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ryan.
Ryan is fighting to break Santos's control of his arms but Santos is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Ryan looking to sit in guard and control but Santos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gustavo Santos is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ryan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Santos controls the pace.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Ryan is trying to hold Santos in close to prevent damage but Santos has managed to pass into half guard.
Santos content to control rather than advance.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Santos is continuing to stall.

Gustavo Santos comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Santos has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
