Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bj Pent (ranked 3562 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Specht (ranked 5265 p4p, 0 weight class). Specht is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: blablabla. Ken Specht has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bj Pent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ken Specht!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Specht tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pent swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Specht closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pent using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Specht has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Pent jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Specht walks away with a smile on his face. Pent gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Specht tries for a takedown but Pent sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Specht shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pent pinned against the cage. Pent gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A left lands for Specht.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pent closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Pent is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Pent wants to pass to mount but Specht is defending the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pent is working hard here to advance position.
Pent missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Specht is trying to stand up here but Pent is controlling him well.
Pent working over Specht with some ground and pound. Specht looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Specht won't allow Pent to pass to mount.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Pent with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Pent blocks a head kick by Specht.

Pent slows down the pace here.
Pent has Specht pressed against the cage.

Pent breaks the clinch.
Pent misses with a head kick.
Pent avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Specht tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pent sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Specht somewhat.
Bj Pent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Specht.
Specht shoots in but Pent avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Specht throws a lazy head kick

and Pent counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Specht looks winded!
Pent throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pent is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pent prevents Specht from getting back to his feet.

Pent looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Pent wants to stand but Specht is controlling his posture from full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Specht dives in and grabs Pent's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pent pushes down on Specht's head and hops out.
Pent appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Specht shoots in but Pent avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pent.
Pent sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Specht is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Specht parries the strikes from Pent easily there. Pent is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Specht to escape.
Specht is pushing Pent's head away, looking to escape. Pent manages to hold on to the position though.
Pent in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Bj Pent overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Pent looks up at the clock and then as Specht takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Pent smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
The referee asks Pent politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Pent prefers to stall for the moment though.
Pent misses with the ground and pound.
Pent in side control lands a decent elbow.
Pent throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Specht pushes Pent away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Pent gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Bj Pent is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Specht fails with a takedown attempt.
It looked like Pent was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Bj Pent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Specht.
Specht is looking to clinch but Pent is avoiding it.

Specht dives in for a single leg takedown but Pent sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Pent shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Specht manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Pent prevents Specht from getting back to his feet.
Specht can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pent controls the pace.

Specht keeping full guard, as Pent tries to pass.
Specht wants to stand but Pent is controlling the position.
We've been informed that Specht has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Pent keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Specht's head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Specht pushes Pent off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Pent circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pent appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Specht is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Pent shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Specht is trying to defend but Pent finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Pent stalling.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pent throws a sloppy head kick and Specht moves out of range easily.
Specht with the counter takedown but Pent avoids it easily.
Pent avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Specht fails in his attempt to clinch.

Pent gets a clinch.

Pent's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Specht shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pent sprawls well. Pent wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Specht gets slowly back to his feet.

Specht gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Pent to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Pent has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Pent stands and steps away. Specht gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Ken Specht has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Specht darts in looking for a takedown but Pent gets double underhooks and turns Specht into the cage.
Pent is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Specht can do to turn this around?
Specht throws a head kick that half lands.
Specht blocks the body kick.

Specht keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A left and a right from Specht both land. Nice combination.
Pent leaves Specht with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Pent appears to be looking for a big counter.
Bj Pent has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Specht.
Specht tries for a takedown but Pent sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Pent tries a head kick but it misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Specht! But no joy.
Specht wants to clinch.
As Specht tries to get set, Pent tries to push him back and clinch up but Specht manages to avoid the attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bj Pent showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Pent has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
