The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akumba takes a swing at Reznick's ribcage but misses.
Reznick gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A looping hook to the body misses from Akumba. Reznick does a little dance to reset his feet.
Reznick connects with a single shot there.

It looks like Mako Akumba has been cut.

Akumba throws a leg kick which misses Reznick's front leg but catches the back leg as Reznick tries to avoid it.

and Akumba counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Akumba scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Reznick drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Reznick is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent.
Akumba avoids the body shot from Reznick.
Reznick drops his hands momentarily and Akumba takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Reznick cracks a nice hook into Akumba's ribs.

Reznick throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Akumba appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Reznick throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Akumba moves in looking to clinch but Reznick pushes him off.
Akumba lands a glancing blow to the side of Reznick's head.

Akumba dips to his left and cracks Reznick with an uppercut!
Akumba scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Reznick doesn't seem bothered though.
Akumba is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Akumba punishes Reznick's body with a nice straight punch.
Akumba lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Akumba thuds his right hand into Reznick's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Reznick takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Reznick throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Akumba feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Reznick sprawling to the canvas! Reznick rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Akumba finish him?!

In his post fight interview, Mako Akumba started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
