Rain swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Rain uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Wolf. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Wolf has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Wolf closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wolf lands in his opponent's guard. Rain manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Wolf manages to get himself to full guard.
Wolf looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wolf keeping moving, preventing Rain from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rain preventing the sweep. Wolf lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Wolf postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Rain pushes a forearm under Wolf's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Wolf is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Heavy Rain! Heavy Rain decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
