Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Adalberto Richards! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andre Zirkovic! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zirkovic fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Richards to the ground. Zirkovic is now in Richards's guard. Zirkovic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Zirkovic slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Richards. Zirkovic prevents Richards from improving his position. Richards gets back to full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zirkovic not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Zirkovic lands a couple of digs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richards has a closed guard, preventing Zirkovic from standing up. Zirkovic is in close to Richards's body, working some short punches and elbows. Zirkovic wants to pass the guard but Richards is keeping the position. Zirkovic looking to sit in guard and control but Richards gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Richards throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Zirkovic works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Zirkovic has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Richards can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Richards throws a strike but Zirkovic rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zirkovic would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Richards working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zirkovic doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zirkovic manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Zirkovic drops back looking for a leg! Richards is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Richards manages to kick Zirkovic off! Zirkovic jumps back into Richards's guard. Zirkovic wants to get up but he can't break Richards's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Zirkovic passes easily into side control. Nice work. Zirkovic goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Richards has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Zirkovic but great work by Richards. Zirkovic is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Richards's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Zirkovic controlling the position well. Richards really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Richards wants to work for an arm triangle but Zirkovic is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Richards stops Zirkovic from getting back to his feet.
Richards is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Richards is working for a kimura but Zirkovic is defending it quite comfortably.
Richards is breathing heavily. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Zirkovic keeping hold of Richards's head, controlling as best he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andre Zirkovic dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Zirkovic clinches. Zirkovic lands a body punch in the clinch. Zirkovic pulls Richards into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Richards accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Richards throwing strikes from guard but Zirkovic blocks nicely. Richards loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Zirkovic wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Zirkovic escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Richards gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Richards stopping the sweep attempt from Zirkovic. Richards working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Zirkovic seems keen to control Richards's posture. Richards throws a strike but Zirkovic rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Zirkovic passes easily into side control. Nice work. Zirkovic trying to control the position but Richards is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Zirkovic lands some shots froms side control. Zirkovic decides to stand up, so the ref orders Richards to his feet. Zirkovic shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Richards is trying to defend but Zirkovic finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. It looks like Zirkovic is going to stand back up.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Zirkovic connects with a nice short shot to Richards's temple. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Zirkovic in particular looking to stall. Zirkovic is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Richards sees it coming and defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Zirkovic tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Richards. Richards flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Zirkovic is trying to control. Richards wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Zirkovic is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Richards defends it well. Zirkovic wants to take a breather but Richards is having none of it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Zirkovic tries to stand and escape but Richards is controlling the position.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Andre Zirkovic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Richards fails in his attempt to clinch. Zirkovic throws a big counter head kick but Richards avoids it with no problem. Zirkovic fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Richards sprawls well initially but Zirkovic persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Zirkovic wants to stand but Richards has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Zirkovic seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Richards is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
