Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Bishop! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Eddie Diaz! The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Atkins and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bishop drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Diaz is looking to regain half guard here but Bishop keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bishop trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom. Bishop prevents Diaz from escaping the position. A lull in the action here. Diaz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bishop asserts his dominance and retains side control. Bishop is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Diaz knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Diaz is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Bishop has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bishop advances to full mount. Bishop looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Bishop avoids the attempt from Diaz to control. Bishop prevents Diaz from getting the reversal. Diaz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Bishop controlling from the full mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bishop with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bishop takes Diaz's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Diaz is in trouble. Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bishop. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Diaz fending off the submission attempt from Bishop. Diaz looking very determined here, making life difficult for Bishop.
Bishop is cranking Diaz's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Diaz! He's tightened the choke and Diaz is tapping out!
