Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Willie Wood (ranked 1076 p4p, 143 weight class) and Rudolf Kleinschmidt (ranked 1180 p4p, 151 weight class). Kleinschmidt is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DMX- It's hot and hell is dark. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Willie Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rudolf Kleinschmidt!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Wood throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Wood defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Kleinschmidt.
Wood keeps the fight on the outside.
The fighters circling - Wood throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Wood really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kleinschmidt gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Kleinschmidt dives in for a single leg takedown but Wood sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
It looked like Wood was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Kleinschmidt.
Kleinschmidt moves forwards but Wood connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Kleinschmidt tests Wood's chin there with a solid looking shot.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kleinschmidt moves in looking to clinch but Wood pushes him off.
Wood is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Wood is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Kleinschmidt takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Kleinschmidt takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Wood on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Kleinschmidt controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Oh Wood is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Kleinschmidt passes Wood's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Kleinschmidt is trying to control the action in half guard but Wood is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Kleinschmidt wants to finish this one by submission but Wood is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Kleinschmidt.
Wood seems to have got his legs back now.

Wood is squirming around, avoiding Kleinschmidt's attempts to control the action.
Kleinschmidt wants to take Wood's back here but Wood is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wood tries to hold on but Kleinschmidt pushes him away.
Kleinschmidt looking to control but Wood is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kleinschmidt is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Wood has given up his back.
Well, with Kleinschmidt on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Wood is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Kleinschmidt wants to control but Wood is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Willie Wood will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Kleinschmidt counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Kleinschmidt closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Wood did well to prevent Kleinschmidt getting side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kleinschmidt has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Kleinschmidt lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
A nice inside leg kick there by Wood. That's going to slow Kleinschmidt down.

enabling Wood to counter with a crisp jab.
Wood connects with a body shot that sends Kleinschmidt's belly button to the back.

And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kleinschmidt! But no joy.

Wood's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kleinschmidt connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wood scrambles back to his feet.

Kleinschmidt takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Kleinschmidt walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.


Kleinschmidt is rocked!
Kleinschmidt tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wood swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Willie Wood is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kleinschmidt throws a hook but Wood blocks it.
Wood stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kleinschmidt is still on wobbly legs! Can Wood finish him?
The fighters circling - Wood throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Kleinschmidt swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Kleinschmidt seems to have recovered his senses.

Wood feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Kleinschmidt sprawling to the canvas! Kleinschmidt rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Wood finish him?!

Kleinschmidt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wood swivels and escapes.

and Wood cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Kleinschmidt takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Wood slips under a jab.

Oooooh!!! Wood has knocked Kleinschmidt down with a huge combo! Wood steps away and waves a wobbly Kleinschmidt back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Kleinschmidt has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Kleinschmidt misses with a lunging right hand
and Wood makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Kleinschmidt pushes Wood up against the cage in a clinch.
Kleinschmidt fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Wood misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Wood lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Wood's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Wood cracks Kleinschmidt with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Wood has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kleinschmidt to stand back up!
Wood lands a jab to Kleinschmidt's midsection.
Wood throws an overhand right that drops Kleinschmidt like a sack of potatoes! Wood dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Willie Wood!
After winning the bout, Willie Wood thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
