Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Thomas Jackson (ranked 4831 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Jones (ranked 6850 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Jones! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jackson circles away quickly and effectively. Jackson is looking for a counter combo. Jones swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jackson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jackson wants it to stay on the feet. Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Jones. Jones tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jackson's elbow. Jackson breaks the clinch.
Jones checks a low kick from Jackson. Jones takes one on the button. Jones misses with a low kick.
Jones throws a sloppy body shot
enabling Jackson to counter with a crisp jab. Jackson lands a nice shot that snaps Jones's head back.
Nice shot by Jackson. A shot to the liver by Jackson. Beautiful body shot. Jackson is looking to chop away at Jones's legs. Jackson tries to land a leg kick but Jones saw it coming and moves away.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones moves into the clinch.

Jones tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jackson just stands there and leans against the cage. Jones missing with knees to the body.
Jackson gets through Jones's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Jackson works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Jones pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Jones is trying to stall.
A nice right hand lands inside from Jackson. Jackson scores with a shoulder strike. Jackson lands with a short shot to the head. Jackson lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jones backwards. Jackson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Jones trying to land knees to the body.
Jackson gets through Jones's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Jackson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Thomas Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Jones. Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Jackson sizes up Jones with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Thomas Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jones gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Jackson. Jones misses with a body kick. Jackson works the jab nicely. Jones throws a hook to the side of Jackson's head but Jackson sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Jones on the wrong end of a nice jab. Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Jackson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A little feinted left hand from Jackson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Jackson darts in and clinches Jones up against the cage. Jones is trying to pull guard but Jackson turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Jackson lands with a left to the head. Jackson lands a left hand that snaps the head of Jones backwards. Jones tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jackson smiles and moves away.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Jackson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Jackson with a body punch. A glancing blow. Jones throws an overhand right that lands on Jackson's shoulder, as Jackson tries to avoid the shot. Jackson wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Jackson with a hook. We've been informed that Jones has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Jones throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Jackson getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Jones rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Jackson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Jackson slaps away a takedown attempt from Jones, before circling back to the center of the mat. Jackson lands with a nice body punch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jackson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones. Jackson is looking for a counter combo. Jackson misses with a kick to the body and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackson won't be happy with that. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jackson sneaks out the side door and pushes Jones away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape. Jackson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Jackson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Jones's head. Jones fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Jackson seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Nice sprawl there from Jackson as Jones shoots in. Jones looks winded! Jackson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Jones throws a predictable looking body shot
and Jackson counters with a straight right hand. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson scores with a shot to the body.
Jackson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jones backs up against the cage.
Jones takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Thomas Jackson dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jackson catches Jones with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Thomas Jackson is winning the standup battle so far. Nice shot by Jones. A decent looking cross lands there for Jackson. No luck for Jones with that takedown attempt. Jackson cracks Jones with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Jackson walks forward, straight into a front kick from Jones. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jones swings away with a leg kick that misses. Jackson avoids the head kick by Jones.

Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Jackson lands a body shot.

Jackson slips under a jab from Jones. Jackson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jones. Jackson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones. Jones obviously looking to wear him down.
Sloppy strikes from Jackson. Those never looked like landing. And Jones tries to counter it with a takedown but Jackson pushes his down on his head and steps out. Jackson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jones. Jones circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Jones swings and misses with a shot to the body and Jackson counters with a straight right hand. Jackson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jackson was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Jackson throws a one two combo.

Jackson digs a right hand underneath Jones's ribcage. Jones let out a lung full of air as it connected. Jones fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Jones takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Jackson connects with a single shot there. Jones throws a combination that misses and Jackson counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jackson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Jackson jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

Jones throws a lazy head kick and Jackson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jackson comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Jones wants to clinch but Jackson slips to the side and Jones takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Mike Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jones throws a sloppy head kick and Jackson moves out of range easily. Jones shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jackson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jones shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jackson as he avoids it easily. Thomas Jackson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Thomas Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Jones. Jackson lands with a hook. Jones tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Jones darts in looking for a takedown but Jackson gets double underhooks and turns Jones into the cage. Jackson lands a jab to Jones's midsection. Jones takes a jab right on the kisser.
Jackson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jones has time to react. Jackson scores with a body shot.
And that's the end of the fight! Thomas Jackson showed his dominance in that final round. Well Jackson has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
