Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Grigorij Defotkov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, NICK JOHN! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! JOHN takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. A telegraphed right hand from JOHN misses the target. JOHN shoots in but no luck this time. Excellent takedown into side control there by JOHN. JOHN working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Defotkov is pushing JOHN's head away, looking to escape. JOHN manages to hold on to the position though. Defotkov is being controlled here. Defotkov isn't going anywhere. JOHN takes a little break here. Defotkov wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. JOHN stands up and beckons Defotkov to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Defotkov fails with the takedown and JOHN counters with a left to the body. Defotkov is breathing heavily. Excellent takedown into side control there by JOHN. JOHN stands up and beckons Defotkov to his feet. JOHN shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. JOHN showed some decent athleticism there. JOHN perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Defotkov trying to control from the bottom.

JOHN seems to be working for a kimura but Defotkov defends the submission attempt. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Defotkov is refusing to be controlled, as JOHN sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. JOHN instigates a clinch. JOHN manages to break the clinch.
JOHN throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Defotkov tries for a takedown but JOHN circles away easily and JOHN counters with a nice double leg into half guard. JOHN is figuring out what he wants to do next. Defotkov trying to control here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. JOHN trying to control from half guard but Defotkov is working away. Defotkov actively working from the bottom here. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with JOHN in particular looking to stall. JOHN wants to stand up but Defotkov is controlling the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Defotkov slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
NICK JOHN dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
JOHN throws a head kick but Defotkov moves out of range.
An inside leg kick lands from Defotkov. A low kick from JOHN misses and Defotkov counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Defotkov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. JOHN misses with a double jab.
Defotkov misses with a takedown and JOHN counters with a nice double leg into half guard. JOHN controlling the action here. Defotkov misses with some strikes from the bottom.
JOHN is controlling the pace.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. JOHN stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Defotkov to get to his feet. JOHN closes the distance and clinches. JOHN gets control of Defotkov's arms and successfully pulls guard. JOHN will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Defotkov trying to control but JOHN is working from the bottom. JOHN working a defensive guard here.
JOHN has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Defotkov postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! JOHN is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Defotkov, into his guard. Defotkov throws his legs up looking for a submission but JOHN uses it to pass to side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. JOHN tries for a kimura but Defotkov is defending well. You can see the frustration on Defotkov's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. JOHN decides to stand back up. JOHN steps back and let's Defotkov get back to his feet. Defotkov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? JOHN is fending him off so far but Defotkov persists. Nope, JOHN circles away and we're back to standing. JOHN gets the takedown into side control. Defotkov takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
JOHN is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Defotkov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Defotkov is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on JOHN's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Defotkov moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Defotkov throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
JOHN working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Defotkov's head. Defotkov looking for submissions from the bottom but instead JOHN passes into half guard.
Defotkov on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
NICK JOHN showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

JOHN works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Defotkov can't do much from the bottom here. Defotkov tries to improve position but can't. Defotkov struggling a bit here. JOHN is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Defotkov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

JOHN decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. JOHN shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Defotkov's guard. NICK JOHN has got the better of the ground game so far. JOHN is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. JOHN has been the more effective fighter overall so far. JOHN sitting in guard here, content to control. JOHN missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Defotkov keeping moving, preventing JOHN from controlling successfully. Defotkov trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! JOHN trying to move into half guard but instead Defotkov has managed to sweep! Defotkov wants to get up but he can't break JOHN's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. JOHN throws a sloppy head kick and Defotkov counters with a low kick, right behind JOHN 's knee. JOHN swings away with a body shot that misses
and Defotkov counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Defotkov decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on JOHN, up you get! Defotkov tries to clinch but JOHN moves away and JOHN counters with a single leg into guard. Defotkov didn't expect that. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Defotkov is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst JOHN is controlling him. JOHN trying to control the position from guard on top but Defotkov is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Grigorij Defotkov has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! NICK JOHN is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Defotkov looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that's the end of the fight! NICK JOHN comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well JOHN has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
