Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fred El Celso! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vorn Leffe! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Edson Gomes and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! El Celso scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Leffe is letting El Celso control him for a moment. El Celso tries to move to mount but Leffe blocks the move with his legs. El Celso controlling the position. El Celso seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Leffe for as long as he can get away with. El Celso continues to stall. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Leffe tries to get back to half guard but can't. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. El Celso is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Leffe looks calm but he's in trouble here. El Celso gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Leffe is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! El Celso lets go of the hold and Leffe can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Fred El Celso! An out of breath Fred El Celso thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
