Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Olvi Kurko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Giacomossi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Olvi Kurko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Olvi Kurko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jonathan Giacomossi! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Giacomossi stuffs the takedown attempt from Kurko. Kurko gets slowly back to his feet. Giacomossi gets in close and instigates a clinch. Giacomossi is trying to maintain a safe position but Kurko gets an underhook and turns Giacomossi into the cage. Giacomossi using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Kurko has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Giacomossi tries to stall but Kurko uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Giacomossi drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Giacomossi looking for a takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Knees to the body from Giacomossi.
Giacomossi is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Kurko pulls him back up using the underhooks. Olvi Kurko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jonathan Giacomossi. A right hand to the body from Giacomossi.
Giacomossi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Giacomossi moves in looking to clinch but Kurko pushes him off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Giacomossi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kurko dodges the punch combination from Giacomossi.
Kurko throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Giacomossi's waist but Giacomossi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kurko off to one side. Kurko is breathing heavily. Giacomossi fails in his attempt to clinch. Kurko shoots in and drives through. Giacomossi sprawls well. Giacomossi tries to clinch but Kurko moves out of range. Giacomossi tries for a takedown but Kurko circles away easily and Kurko counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kurko is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Giacomossi is just riding it out for now. Kurko eventually gives up the hold. Giacomossi actively working from the bottom here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kurko seems to be working for a kimura but Giacomossi defends the submission attempt. Giacomossi tries to roll over but Kurko keeps him under control. Giacomossi wants to get back to his feet.
Kurko is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Giacomossi doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kurko. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Kurko is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Giacomossi has managed to free his arm - good work. Giacomossi is looking for a sweep. Kurko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Giacomossi is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Kurko in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Giacomossi tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Kurko!
